Music at Heart pupils play with professional orchestra

Music at Heart recorder pupils enjoyed the privilege of working with and learning from professional musicians from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) as part of the education project Anthem for a Child. They first took part in a workshop with two OAE players, which included a multitude of musical activities, singing and playing their recorders, and a demonstration of Baroque instruments. They then joined the OAE and hundreds of children from local York schools for a performance of two specially-commissioned works, Twangling Instruments and the anthem My Cry, in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall.

George, a Music at Heart recorder pupil, said, "The orchestra was amazing and the conductor was really funny. Some of the instruments I had never seen before."
